Doc is a very sweet, friendly, and personable horse. He is easy to get along with and he enjoys having a horse-human relationship. Doc is a fun ride for outside adventures. He enjoys the outdoors and is comfortable with many different trail situations to include cattle and deep ponds. He lacks confidence in some new situations and would excel with someone who understands this and can help build his confidence daily.

Rapper is super willing, very confident negotiating new obstacles, smart, sweet and easy-going personality. He loves a job, loves to work and especially loves being on cattle. Loads great, good for the Farrier, bathes and stands quietly. He is catty, sensitive, and has lots of try reason for needing a more advanced rider than a beginner. If you ask, he gives a 110%. When he is put to work, he is all business.

Darlene is great on the trails and getting better in the arena. She has a nice handle, super big stop, and started on her spins. She can have an attitude, so would be best suited for an experienced rider, or advanced intermediate with more training for her and her rider. She has no buck or bite. She loads, ties, lunges, and hobbles. Her weakness is the farrier. We are getting there, but she will kick out occasionally. Darlene was a late entry into the Trainers Challenge, so has closer to 80 days of training rather than120 days. She is very talented and will only get better with continued training, but is still green.

Tesoro is not mean or spooky and hasn’t ever shown any super scratchy traits. However, he does take a bit to really warm up to new people. He is responsive and attentive to his handler. He does not require heavy aids (if heavy aids are used he initially would probably just shut down and not do anything, but if those heavy aids continue he’ll most likely become reactive). Great care has been given to training Tesoro to be a pleasurable mount for the average trail rider. His gait is moderately forward and still being developed, so while smooth, can tend to troche/soft trot.

An adult with knowledge of Downunder Horsemanship would be a preferable partner for Pilgrim. He excels in many areas, but walking on a loose rein down the trail is his specialty. He enjoys pushing cows. He also loves obstacle work because it means he gets to walk and take his time (his motto could be “slow and steady wins the race”). Pilgrim’s weak areas are mainly on the ground. He doesn't have the best back up and can get heavy on the halter when lunging/etc. He would not be suitable for a kid. He is the type of horse that will constantly try to lower the bar, so he needs a firm hand that will keep him motivated and accountable!

Truffles is becoming a wonderful partner to trail ride with! She crosses ponds and creeks, will lead a trail ride or follow along, and does not fuss with other horses along the trail. However, she does try to hurry up if she gets left behind. Truffles is still green and has her own opinions and own idea of what she will and won’t do. Therefore, she will need a confident, determined rider with some experience and capability to make her do what you want. Overall she is a sweet girl, she’s young, and VERY smart!

Catori shines in groundwork/liberty and lateral movements, loves a trail ride, is easy to catch, has comfortable gaits, and is an easy keeper. Her weaknesses are that she sits back if spooked while tied, can be suspicious of new things, and needs encouragement for forward motion. She is willing, curious, and looks to her person to be the confident leader. She prefers a slow, measured pace (some would call her “on the lazy side”), making her the perfect choice for someone who prefers leisurely trail rides. Catori loves her stall, is good in a herd. is motivated by food rewards, and does better with short, frequent sessions when learning a new skill.

Edward is easy going and has fantastic ground manners. He is very willing to work and wants to please. He is soft in the mouth, and responsive to leg and seat cues. He will stop from a walk, trot or lope, and his lope is super comfortable. He goes English or Western and is best in a simple snaffle. Edward’s biggest weakness is his anxiety, he will tense and freeze up if he does not understand what is being asked. He is particularly anxious when being mounted, sometimes moving away while getting on or off. He will need someone with the ability to read his body language and provide calm, confident leadership to keep him focused when he is unsure.

Excels in most ground work - but tends to rush in round pen. He listens well under saddle; trots and lopes when asked, collects, and backs well. Correct saddle fit is important for him. He’ is not spooky, but does get anxious going off property, and needs more work to give him confidence. He has a very goofy, curious personality and always wants to be involved in whatever you are doing. He prefers the company of people over horses. He has a bit of an attitude when you ask him to do something he doesn’t want to, but he still listens. He’ll be a great partner for someone who’s confident, balanced in the saddle, and wants to spend time with him outside of work.

Houston is both a typical and atypical Thoroughbred. He is an athlete through and through and would be more interested in a home with a job as opposed to one where he'd only get pulled out occasionally for trails or casual riding. He has a gentle, teddy bear personality on the ground and loves people, but probably not for a beginner because he does have a very easy go button under saddle. He would probably excel in a school program with some time, or somewhere where he will get a ton of the attention he craves.

Right now Petra is a little high in the back end, but she is still growing and should even out. She stands for the farrier and can live comfortably barefooted. In herd dynamics, she is going to be in the middle. She doesn’t start fights but she’s not one that’s gonna let herself be bullied. Petra would be best suited to trail riding, ranch riding or extreme cowboy racing. She would fit perfectly into a show barn or into your personal herd. She is brave, confident, laid back in arena or open fields, and can go off property with no issues.

Mickey is a quick and willing learner. He is easy to catch, has good ground manners, is great for the farrier, and self loads in the trailer. He is developing a good range of smooth, ground covering gaits (even when he is troche/trotting). His quirks are that he is a tad earshy, can be a little buddy sour, and his high metabolism can run up a grocery tab. Mickey is very agreeable once respect and trust is established. He is very forward moving, and likes to move out. He requires a very light touch when making requests, and will protest against a heavy hand. He prefers pasture over stall.

Laredo will accommodate all skill levels of rider from an advanced beginner to an intermediate/pro. His present level of training could help an advanced beginner develop their skills under the supervision of a trainer. A more advanced rider could develop his strong foundation to develop his talents to the top in whatever area his new home wants to concentrate on. He is super nice and gentle on the ground, but he needs a rider that will handle him with light aids under saddle. He will always be a TB, but with a quiet, confident rider he is so calm…

Dallas is well suited to all skill level riders, from an advanced beginner under the direction of a trainer to intermediate/pro who could further develop his strong foundation and obvious athleticism and enthusiasm for work. He is very safe and accommodating under saddle. He can display a little bit of sass and character on the ground, but nothing dangerous for sure! He is a big package in a small body...and pretty proud of himself!

Razzle is easy to catch, stands great for farrier, saddles great, stands tied, is not spooky, loud sounds do not seem to bother her. She loads well but has not yet been trained to back off the trailer. Her round pen work is fair. Under saddle she is laid back and a little lazy. Her responses to commands and transitions are slow, so more training and trainer supervision will be needed if a less experienced rider is her primary partner. She has a calm disposition, wants to be close to people and is happy to be loved on. She would make a good horse for a small adult or a family with young children who are ready for their first mount under supervision.

Merci is a calm, dependable, laid back partner. She really takes care of her rider, and when she gets tight or nervous, just wants to stop instead of acting out or speeding up. She is definitely not a “hot,” forward ride and is on the lazier side. She’s attentive to the rider’s balance on her back, and slows down or stops if she feels unbalanced. She seems to like kids and is relaxed around them. Merci trusts her primary person, and hasn’t had a ton of experience with others. It may take her time to adjust in her new home. She is definitely more wary of men and people with a strong, assertive presence. She will do best with someone who is gentle and confident to give her support and guidance.

Scooter is definitely a horse that a rider could grow with. He excels in trail obstacles, roping the heel-o-matic, jumping, barrels, poles, goat tying and is picking up the prettiest three gaits as well as a nice little running walk! It is hard to find any weaknesses - he’s just an overall good pony! Scooters personality is pretty neutral. He likes walking around and saying hello to everyone, but he also never gets too close or pushy. If he’s nervous about something, he sniffs it, if it doesn’t reach out and get him, then he’s generally good with it. A lot has been thrown at him in a short amount of time and nothing really stops him.

Spotted Saddle Horse Mare 14.2 H 9 yrs. old
Millie’s shows no inclination to spook, buck, rear, kick, run away or bite - she just needs more riding in a controlled environment to settle into her gait and lock in her rhythm.. She is sweet and curious, but she can get anxious but settles with slow, methodical work. Her gait under saddle is progressing well and is smooth as silk. She will benefit from saddle work in circles to better understand use of legs. Two of her biggest weaknesses are standing still to be mounted and rushing backwards out of the trailer, but these problems should be a nonissue by finals. Millie is a very personable horse looking for a connection; she will make a very special companion.

Nico is very confident, smart and will try his heart out for his person. He loves the trails; an absolute trail deluxe . Ride him on a loose rein and relax. He negotiates obstacles like a champ, handles new places and hauls well. He has conquered so many mountains. Trust was a big deal for him and he can sometimes still be leery of new helping hands. He does have a history of slight laminitis, and is HYPP and MYHM positive. These problems are currently under control with medication and monitoring. Nico is looking for the right person or right long-term foster to connect with. He is truly a gem.
